The visit to Heideveld this Thursday gave me an insight on how desperately help is needed in the form of volunteers for all the projects. I felt that the kids need more love and attention, which Mario cannot give enough of while he is doing administrative work for the project at the same time. He needs people to relieve him with the admin so that he can have time those he loves the most, being the kids.
The work this man is doing single-handedly is touching, taking in to consideration how many lives he is touching. He deserves more in terms of time to himself and his family and to do what he loves most, to teach soccer and skills to the boys.
I felt challenged because of the passion and big heart this man has and the endurance that he has shown in his work. On the other hand I felt angry on how we turn a blind eye on these social dilemmas in our society and never see how privileged we are and how much a few hours of our time can make a difference in other peoples’ lives.
